How ChessProfi uses and protects data on Android and Windows.

Last updated: 9 October 2026

This Privacy Policy describes the use of information in the ChessProfi application for Android and Windows (the “Application”). Certain features may differ depending on the platform and version of the Application.

We respect users’ privacy. The Application does not contain advertising, advertising trackers, or behavioural analytics. You do not need to create an account with the developer to use its core features.

1. Developer and contact

Developer: SHVVHS

Contact email: [email protected]

You can use this address to ask questions about this Policy and data processing.

2. Data created by the user

Users can create and save chess games, databases, tournaments, notes, learning progress, favourite materials, and settings in the Application. This data is stored primarily on the user’s device.

The developer does not automatically receive the contents of this data or store it on the developer’s own servers. The Application does not sell user data or use it for advertising or behavioural profiling.

If a user chooses to email support, the information in that message is used to consider the request and respond to it.

3. Internet connection

The Application may connect to the Internet to obtain catalogues and publicly available chess materials, download content selected by the user, operate certain online features, and perform optional synchronisation. For the Android version, the distribution platform may also be used to check the licence and provide updates.

When network services are accessed, their providers may process technical information needed to establish the connection and deliver the service, such as an IP address, device information, and request parameters. This processing is governed by the relevant providers’ policies. The Application does not send the developer a user’s material-viewing history, game contents, or gameplay statistics for analytics purposes.

4. Local storage

The Application may save personal chess data, settings, downloaded materials, and service files on the device to operate. Large downloaded databases are stored locally and are not included in the normal exchange of personal data through Google Drive.

Local data remains on the device until the user deletes it or removes the Application, subject to the operating system’s behaviour. Removing the Application does not necessarily delete files that the user has saved outside its internal storage.

If an error occurs, the Application may create a diagnostic file on the device. It is not sent to the developer automatically. A user may choose to send it when contacting support.

5. Synchronisation with Google Drive

Synchronisation is optional. To use it, the user selects a Google Account and grants the Application permission to work with Google Drive files created or opened by the Application itself. The Application does not request access to all other files in the account.

During synchronisation, the user’s personal chess databases, saved games, and learning progress may be transferred to the user’s Google Drive. The Application uses this data to exchange it between the user’s devices, not for advertising or behavioural analysis. Transfer takes place between the device and Google’s service; the developer does not gain access to the user’s personal Google Drive.

To help prevent loss of changes, the Application may save additional copies of synchronisation data. These take up space in the Google Account and are not deleted automatically. The Application does not apply additional encryption to synchronisation archives.

The user can turn off synchronisation and revoke permission in their Google Account settings. This prevents further access by the Application but does not delete previously saved files. The user can view and delete them directly in Google Drive.

6. Synchronisation through a selected folder on a PC

In the Windows version, the user may choose a local folder for data exchange instead of connecting directly to Google Drive. If a third-party program synchronises that folder, transfer of files to the cloud depends on the selected program’s settings and its provider’s policies.

The Application does not select such a folder without the user’s involvement. Stopping the exchange in the Application does not automatically delete files from the selected folder or its associated cloud storage.

7. Android backup

On Android, local data and settings may be included in a system backup if backup is enabled on the user’s device. This is controlled by the device and Google Account settings. The developer does not have access to the user’s Android system backups.

8. Camera, images, and file sharing

On Android, the Application may request access to the camera or to an image selected by the user to recognise a chess position. Processing takes place on the device. Camera images and video are not sent to the developer.

When using the file-sharing feature, the user selects the application or recipient to which an exported file is sent. Further processing of the file depends on the selected recipient.

9. Third-party services

Services for application distribution, content delivery, and optional synchronisation are used to provide certain features. Their providers process the information they need under their own terms and privacy policies.

Google’s Privacy Policy is available on Google’s website. Using a third-party service for a feature selected by the user does not mean that the developer gains access to all of the user’s data in that service.

10. Data security

The Application uses secure connections to transmit data over the network. Access to local data also depends on the protection of the user’s device and account. We recommend using a screen lock and protecting access to your Google Account.

No method of storing or transmitting data provides absolute security. Users should be aware that files they choose to share become available to the recipient they select.

11. Changes to this Policy

This Policy may be updated if the Application’s features, data-processing practices, or applicable requirements change. The current version is published on this page; the last-updated date appears at the beginning of the document.

12. Contact

For questions about privacy or the Application, email [email protected].
